On Saturday 26th November, Doddie Weir passed away after his long battle with MND.
I met Doddie through the most unfortunate circumstances yet Doddie became a close friend and an inspiration after we were both diagnosed with MND. Throughout Doddie’s battle with MND, he gave so many people strength and hope through his incredible determination to fight the disease but to also help the MND community in raising awareness and raising funds to help find a treatment and a cure for this disease. Doddie and The MyName’sDoddie Foundation have raised and donated millions towards grants and research for MND. He was a massive part in the United2EndMND campaign. Doddie made it his mission to lead the fight. I will never forget the friendship we had and the support we shared. Throughout his toughest times, Doddie always laughed and smiled and looked forward and did everything he could to make a positive impact on MND and he has certainly done that. He was kind, unselfish, caring and always had time to crack a joke and a smile. I’ll be forever grateful for the love and support Doddie showed me. Doddie’s legacy will live on and it’s important that we continue the fight against MND and do Doddie proud.
Everyone here at the foundation will miss Doddie greatly and our thoughts are with Kathy and the boys and family.
Rest easy Doddie
