On Sunday March 26, 150 walkers will take to the streets on a 21 mile trek starting and ending at Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium and visiting Everton FC, Marine AFC, Aintree Racecourse and Liverpool Football Club’s AXA Training Centre along the way. Their aim is to raise over £20000 for the Foundation. Their key motivation is to pay tribute to the Foundation’s co-founder Chris Rimmer who sadly died in April 2022.
Fundraising has been progressing very well and over £18000 has been raised to date. Former RAF colleagues of Chris are travelling up from Wittering to take part to honour they good friend. Two former Liverpool players and friends of Stephen Darby, Jay Spearing and Chris Kirkland are also taking part. The walkers will be met by George Sephton, the Voice of Anfield, when they arrive at Marine AFC’s College Road ground. Many members of the Rimmer family are taking part and they are supported also by a significant number from the Darby family. However this event is all about Chris. He was an inspiration do many with his ‘adapt and overcome’ ethos throughout his seven year battle with Motor Neurone Disease. This event will be a great opportunity for him to be remembered.
In true Rimmer style, the walkers are trying to help memo members of their community too. They will be bringing food donations for the Fans Supporting Foodbanks team who will be at Anfield as they arrive. If you would like to make a donation to the Foundation in memory of Chris, you can find our donation page here.
Rest in Peace Chris, you will never be forgotten.
