On Friday June 27th, former Rangers, Kilmarnock and Scotland striker Kris Boyd completed a half marathon. He ran the 13 miles between Ayr United’s Somerset Park ground to Rugby Park, home of Kilmarnock. The efforts of Kris and the Lockdown Tactics team were motivated by determination to raise money for his own charity and the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation.
Kris tells the Foundation the story of how this challenge came about.
“All during my career I never enjoyed pre-season training. So, the thought of doing a half marathon was not something that overly appealed but to do it for two outstanding causes – my own charity and The Darby Rimmer Foundation – pushed me on. Thanks to Robert Snodgrass for suggesting it and daring me to do it!
“I got a great deal of satisfaction from being able to give a wee bit back and that kept me going as I pounded the streets in Ayrshire on a wet Friday morning. Thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity and continued good wishes are appreciated and allow good work to take place week after week.
“Thanks again and take care.”
Massive thanks from all at the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation to Kris and the team. Their support is hugely appreciated.
